Airflow

Chip production requires air that is cleaner than a surgical room. Outside air enters the make-up air handlers on the roof of the building, where it is adjusted to specific temperature and humidity criteria.

The air is forced through special filters to remove contaminants and pushed through the cleanroom ceiling by an array of fans, where it flows through perforated floor tiles and into the subfab level.

From there, it travels laterally and back up to the fan deck where it is filtered again and recirculated. This process is mirrored on both sides of the fab.
